United States of America: 1776 – 2008

“Socialism is the doctrine that man has no
right to exist for his own sake,
that his life and his work do not belong to him,
but belong to society,
that the only justification of his

existence is his service to society,
and that society may dispose of him
in any way it pleases
for the sake of whatever it deems to be its
own tribal, collective good.”

Hollywood and Wall Street: A View from Precipice

Seems no matter which way the election goes on Tuesday, the future is bleak!

From the Wall Street perspective, an Obama win will be an unmitigated disaster rivaling the economic downturn that followed the market crash in 1929.  Outsiders view Sen. Obama’s tax policies as “crazy” and promises of tax rebates to 95% of the population “rubbish”.   “Forty per cent (of the US population) don’t pay taxes, so how can he give them a tax cut?”  NEWS Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch said.

The potential for a grassroots rebellion will become great as “selfish Americans” refuse to do their “patriotic duty” and voluntarily submit to “wealth redistribution.”  The first American revolution was fought over confiscatory taxation by an unfeeling, imperial government.  It ended poorly for the forces of mandatory wealth redistribution.

The modern day colonists, sneered at by the social elites as bitter racists clinging to guns and religion, will not long tolerate a government perceived as unjust.  Though hopefully not a bloody, armed insurrection, this coming American Revolution will be a second “shot heard round the world.”

Meanwhile in tinsel town the hand-wringing has already begun over a possible Obama loss.  Rather than a financial meltdown, these Acolytes of Barack “The One” Obama see race riots and international humiliation should Obama be defeated Tuesday.  No less a literary light than Erica Jong has opined “If Obama loses it will spark the second American Civil War.  Blood will run in the streets, believe me,” she told the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera last week. “My back is also suffering from spasms, so much so that I had to see an acupuncturist and get prescriptions for Valium. “Yesterday, Jane Fonda sent me an email to tell me that she cried all night and can’t cure her ailing back for all the stress that has reduced her to a bundle of nerves.”    There will be the blood of your fellow citizens in the streets, anarchy and a collapse of the social order but you’re worried about your back!  What are you, 14?  Get over yourself!

And not to be outdone, actress Susan Sarandon issued a grave warning to the public: “It’s a critical time, but I have faith in the American people,” she told Britain’s Telegraphnewspaper back in June. “If they prove me wrong, I’ll be checking out a move to Italy. Maybe Canada, I don’t know. We’re at an abyss …”

Oh, and by all means please feel free to check out a move to Italy or Canada.  You could join Barbara Streisand, Alec Baldwin, Eddie Vedder and Robert Redford who also vowed to emigrate to Canada if an election didn’t go their way.  Perhaps in your company they could find the courage to follow through on their promises.

None of you will be missed.
